Dear Judy

I work with the casting director Julie Harkin and we are currently casting a new TV pilot called STANLEY PARK. I'm sending you the details in the hope that you may have some students you think are suitable for the project. We are holding casting workshops in London over the next two weeks. The roles we are looking for are listed below and please do call or email if you would like any more information.

Best wishes,

Stanley Park is a pilot for a comedy sitcom based on the play 'Shit Mix' which was performed in 2008 at The Trafalgar Studios. Set on a street somewhere in South London, it follows the lives of some kooky, funny, angst driven teenagers and some dysfunctional and incredibly characterful, colourful parents. A hilarious, quirky and upbeat comedy for BBC3. The pilot is co produced by the BBC and Lionsgate in the US who make MADMEN and WEEDS.
Company: BBC/ LIONSGATE
Producer: ALAN GREENSPAN
Director: TBC
Casting Director: JULIE HARKIN
Location: LONDON
Dates (Shooting, Rehearsal, etc.): Approx shoot dates 8th Feb for 6 days but could go one week later.
Casting Details: JANUARY 2010

Role: DEBBIE (Female)
Description: 17 turning 18 - WE WANT TO CAST ACTORS WHO GENUINELY ARE OR GENUINELY LOOK 17/18.
Any race
MUST BE NORTHERN (character originally from Bolton, but will consider all actors who can do a North of England accent)
upper working class
'Dirty' Debbie is a sexy, busty, attractive girl. She spoils herself by the way she behaves, she is incredibly sexually provocative. Debbie loves sex. Underneath all the cheapness and make up, she is actually a really pretty girl but she never allows herself to be.
Debbie is tacky, comes across as hard and edgy but she has a definite softness and vulnerability. She is street smart rather than educated. She lives with her Auntie Pat and has never really had a positive adult influence in her life.
She dreams to be a top fashion designer or a writer of erotic novels.

LEAD ROLE (SERIES REGULAR IF PILOT GOES TO SERIES)

Role: LEE (Male)
Description: 16 turning 17 - WE WANT TO CAST ACTORS WHO GENUINELY ARE OR GENUINELY LOOK 16/17.
Any race
Londoner
Bit of a chav.... upper working class/lower middle class
Lee is from a good, hard working family who have good values and intentions.
He is a typical 16 yr old - he is ruled by his hormones. He is trying to work out his masculinity, he is emotionally immature. He is one of those boys, who always gets it wrong....especially with girls...
Lee is uncomfortable in his own skin, he hasn't discovered himself yet. He makes off the cuff decisions, he has knee jerk reactions.

LEAD ROLE (SERIES REGULAR IF PILOT GOES TO SERIES)

Role: RAGGEDY ANN (Female)
Description: 16 turning 17 - WE WANT TO CAST ACTORS WHO GENUINELY ARE OR GENUINELY LOOK 16/17.
Any race
Londoner
lower middle class
An emo
Ann wants to be a rebel
She is very bright - does very well at school
A sweet sweet girl
Like Lee, Ann doesn't know who she is yet...she has problems trying to express herself properly.
She writes poetry about her inner demons even though she doesn't have any!
She is from the most straight, conservative family on the street. She has good parents who have provided her with everything she needs in a practical sense but her family don't like to talk much....they are a bit repressed and uptight.

LEAD ROLE (SERIES REGULAR IF PILOT GOES TO SERIES)

Role: BENT BEN (Male)
Description: 16 turning 17 - WE WANT TO CAST ACTORS WHO GENUINELY ARE OR GENUINELY LOOK 16/17.
Any race
Londoner -upper working class/lower middle class
Ben is very bright and articulate.

He is incredibly camp - it is a genuine campness, not over egged.
He is the most rounded out of all the teenagers.
Very sensitive, quick witted, snappy and highly strung.
Ben is a good person, a loyal, decent friend.
He is most definitely gay but is in denial throughout the pilot.
